Poor Person: I need food stamps so I don’t starve.
Conservative: That’s lazy. Get a job.
Poor Person: Fine. I got a job, but it doesn’t pay enough. The minimum wage needs to be raised.
Conservative: Still lazy. Go to college so you can get a better job.
Poor Person: Fine. But I’ll need financial assistance to afford college.
Conservative: Still lazy.
Poor Person: Fine. I went to college, put myself in debt, and got a degree. But the only jobs I can get without experience are unpaid internships. Businesses should be required to pay their interns.
Conservative: …
Conservative: Still lazy.
Poor Person: How the hell do you expect me to get out of debt?
Conservative: It’s your own fault. You choose to go to college even though you couldn’t afford it.
Poor Person: But you’re the one who keeps telling poor people to go to college. Are you saying that I’m lazy if I don’t go to college, and lazy if I do?
Ron: I never promised Hermione anything. I mean, all right, I was going to go to Slughorn's Christmas party with her, but she never said... just as friends... I'm a free agent...
Hermione: He's at perfect liberty to kiss whomever he likes. I really couldn't care less.
what she means: In the book, Ron
screams Hermione’s name at the top of his lungs, to the point where Harry can barely think. He begins sobbing and
pounding on the walls yelling her name, shaking in absolute despair
as he hears the girl he loves being tortured and possibly killed upstairs. Why then in the movie does Ron just stand
there and state the obvious? “We can’t
leave Hermione alone with her”, “We have to do something”? Well no
shit, Ron! Don’t misunderstand me, it’s
not like I WANT to see Ron (or Hermione) suffer, but that moment was so significant in the characterization of Ron and Hermione’s relationship. Seeing how much he was affected by knowing
she was being hurt just shows how much he loves her. Rupert Grint could have done so much with
that scene if he was given the right material.
But once again one of the greatest Romione moments doesn’t make it to
film. Damn. *internal sob*
A patronus, Harry tells Hermione, is acing a test and the warmth of a butterbeer between your hands. It is your friends holding you when you fall, and Ron’s sparkling eyes when you whisper hi. And there’s an otter, swimming, and Hermione is blushing.
A patronus, Harry tells Ron, is Ginny’s shaky smile lighting up the world at the end of second year. It is winning the Quidditch World Cup, unwrapping yet another knitted jumper, and your startled surprise at the sight of Hermione punching Draco in the face. And there’s a dog, chasing the otter, and Ron is laughing.
A patronus, Harry tells Luna, is the feeling of starlight on your skin and grass between your bare toes. It is snow melting through your fingers, the magic your mother used to make, something singing in your heart when you stare at the impossible. And there’s a hare, jumping, and Luna is shining.
A patronus, Harry tells Cho, is Marietta shouting the lyrics of her favourite song, dancing in the rain during a storm. It is the look on Cedric’s face when he saw you at the Yule Ball, his hand holding yours and never letting go. And there’s a swan, sliding, and Cho is crying.
A patronus, Harry tells Seamus, is Dean’s funny expression when he is about to burst into laughter and the sound of a explosion that turns out right. It is the fireworks, bright flowers blossoming in the night sky; and the fire burning in your lungs as you fly. And there’s a fox, running, and Seamus is smirking.
A patronus, Harry tells Ginny, is the world expanding underneath you and the wind playing with your hair. It is dancing and laughing until there are tears on your cheeks, Molly’s disapproving voice and Arthur’s amused eyes after one of the twins’ pranks. And there’s a horse, flying, and Ginny is grinning.
A patronus, Harry thinks, is that weird feeling that lives in his chest when the Room of Requirement glows silver, speaking of times when the world was golden.
I think the important fact from Harry Potter that we’re all forgetting is that Sirius Black was canonically close friends with Hermione’s cat in large part due to their shared hatred of Ron’s rat
and they spent the bulk of the third book hanging out and walking around the grounds together
I’ve never made this connection before…at the beginning of DH Hermione tells Ron and Harry how a wizard who’d split his soul could heal himself, save himself…remorse
oh, harry
Harry James you precious baby
I’ve read this second bit before, the whole try for some remorse thing, and thought it was just a Harry stabbing in the dark, but nO
It was so calculated
He remembered that conversation
Hermione’s research
actual, possible redemption for Voldemort
he kept that hope, however slim, that Voldemort could be saved
before they cast their final curses, after all that happened, Harry was actually trying to get Voldemort to mend himself back together
Harry james potter you compassionate jerk trying to save your mortal enemy before he utterly and finally destroys himself
